February is such a good month to express a little lovin'...since my body has been full of hormones and things have been a little emotional, a little hard at times. I haven't loved getting bills from my surgery, I feel like they are smothering me with negativity. I haven't loved that I have been breaking out on my face more than I had since I was 13, but still my life has been good and I need to spread more love and appreciation.

I've been loving this love quilt that my talented amazing big sister made. You could get one here and stare at it all day long with love. I love that my sister has been sending me home with dinners ever since my surgery and that she has gotten my little girl the cutest clothes with these adorable shoes...she's going to be one pretty cute girl.
I have loved finally being able to move around more and teach yoga without being afraid of pain.
I have loved finally being able to feel this little girl move, kick and maybe even punching me while I've been trying to sleep in. It still shocks me every time I feel it even though it's been happening more and more often. I also love that her little heartbeat is strong and I can't help but get teary when I hear it.
I have loved eating captain crunch and lynn wilson bean burritos (thanks for the push Mart), even though my pre-pregnant self would really be disappointed, but sure..I make up for it teaching yoga and eating a lot of veggies right?
I have loved these blueberry muffins that I made last night. Jason even said, "The way I feel about these blueberry muffins is the same way I feel about you." I'm glad that our love is compared to blueberry muffins but I'll take it because these are delicious and worth every single bite.
I have loved our new little car. Jason's car broke down last week and even though I'm stress with the bills, etc. Finally having an ac after 4 years of not is going to be so nice. I even enjoy those seat warmers in the mornings. The car is fit for a mom, it's perfect.
I have loved waking up to Jason's hand on my belly. That's his little to go to spot to snuggle, he's been asking how the little one is doing today and what's she's up to. Yesterday she was a little sleepy today she has been workin' out with her mama and kickin' like crazy. It's a weird feeling to be already attached to this little person. I have loved getting to know her already and can't wait to see her little face and cute buns.

The Rasmussen's are happy to report that we'll be having a baby girl! Mom, Dad and baby are perfectly happy and are beyond blessed that the little one is safe after a rough and scary month. We celebrated by eating my black bean burrito, a dr pepper, martha stewart magazine and I bought the little one her own pair of yoga pants. Things are looking pretty bright around here.

Lately it's felt like Spring, but this morning I woke up to this. Pretty snow that I don't need to drive in. This past week has been a blur and all I can say is that I'm happy the worst part is over. Those of you already know but last Friday I got my gallbladder removed. Who knew that little organ was a cause to a lot of pain. I have always struggled with stomach and back pain so on Thursday when it hit, it wasn't something new but being 17 weeks pregnant makes you a little scared and maybe more dramatic. After a few hours in the ER they took that little organ out which I was grateful for but so scared. Luckily I was in good hands and was so relieved..right before they put me under they told me not only are they going to take care of me, but my little babe. Let's say I cried a lot that day. Sadly after I was released I had some complications and got sent right back up with more pain and more tears. Mr hubby was there every waking hour, he picked me up so many times physically and mentally. I really couldn't have done it without him. I also had so many people helping me, helping jas. So thank you for those people who helped put a smile on my tired little face. Lucky for me I feel so much better and the babe has a strong heartbeat and doing so well. I have been truly blessed and am looking forward to:

14 weeks and counting

There are a lot of things to be grateful for during this holiday season. One of my blessings has been being able to eat again. For those of you who don't know I am 14 weeks pregnant and I really couldn't be more happier, more grateful. Our little babe will be ready for the world around June 14th and I'm already counting the days, weeks and months to see this little one. Today we went to our nephew's blessing and watching Jason hold our adorable nephew made me get butterflies. He's already the best uncle to our family and I know he's going to be an amazing dad. Let's just say I'm filled with love and am very grateful.

So back to eating. It's been a few weeks of not feeling good. I've been craving meat which I found very odd. After a couple of years of not eating a cheese burger..I did it. I inhaled it like Michelle Rodriguez in Hawaii (remember Mullin fam?) and it tasted really good, then an hour later I threw it up, but I haven't given up. So now I'm really taking advantage of some food and date nights and date days. Here are a few of my favorite places, hopefully you can all agree with the list below or a must do on your date night list.

Blue Plate Diner: My favorite black bean breakfast burrito never gets old. I order it every time and our waiter even asks me if I'm getting my usual..should I feel embarrassed?
Red Rock: We ate there last night, Jas gets the french onion steak sandwich and it's delicious. I had a bite of his and it totally beat my black bean vegan burger. Pizza's are amazing there too!
Bohemian Brewery: If you're a meat lover..get the buffalo burger. It's the best along with their garlic french fries.
Ruth's Diner: There homemade biscuits are the best. I'm craving them right now
Red Iguana: I love my bean and cheese burrito smothered with enchiladas sauce..it's a Rasmussen favorite
Wild Grape: This place is only a few blocks from my house and I love it. I usually get the smoked portobello sandwich, but I gotta lay off soft cheeses for awhile. There grape salad is pretty tasty
The Pie: I'm going to have a lot of lay low date nights and nothing is better than a movie and a veggie supreme.
La Frontera: Talk about smothered burrito goodness. I don't eat here enough, which is probably a good thing, but it's pretty delicious.
Great Harvest: I'm still in love with my hummus harvest sandwich on savory bread.
Royal India: There veggie masala is amazing

I know that I'll be cooking a lot at home..here are few favorites to whip up...this one, gotta make this and this one is super good and super easy.

Cousin's night

This Friday we had cousin's night. I don't know about you guys, but I love my cousins and we have always been so close growing up. Now that we are getting older, some of us are married, some have little kiddos and some were married into our family and have become part of our own, we felt that it was time to get together before the Christmas craziness.

We had a little mini yoga session, we ate some good food and went back for a lot of 2nd's, exchanged our favorite gifts to our favorite girlies and had a little power outage. It was truly a night to remember. Thank you girls and little Josh for making the night so much fun.

I'm a little obsessed with quilts. My sister not only sews the quilts, she quilts them. Her quilting room is a dream come true for all you fabric lovers. It's filled with old and very new fabric that I adore. I have a feeling that my sister is a little worried to show me her new projects because I always want them. She has this talent that I completely take advantage of and I just love everything she does.

So when she showed me her Christmas star quilts I had to have one. I mean she was keeping one, it just made sense to have the other one..right? It is my new cozy addition that I've been snuggling with while my apartment is in boxes. I'm happy to report that she has a few items in her etsy store that I completely adore and am keeping my eye on. Perfect for the upcoming holiday.

Jason's window

It turns out we may move downstairs next week, but I may just go ahead and get my tree. The holiday season isn't the same without a tree right? Even though we are only moving down the hall and a flight of stairs, I'm getting a little sad. This apartment was the first place Jas and I called home together. A lot of happy memories and I'm excited for the next step in our lives.

There are a few things that I'll miss that I know I wont have downstairs..like this view from our kitchen. Every morning Jason opens those blinds and looks out the window. It's a pretty view especially at night when the sun is setting and I know I'll miss it along with my bright yellow tile in my bathroom which Jason hates but I know it's a step up from the pink tile bathroom that awaits for us. So a few things that I'm going to gain..more space. I better not be sleeping next to these babies again and I'm more than excited to get extra space for our climbing and camping gear. That picture does not do any justice to how overloaded it really is.

So today I'm cleaning..a person is going to look through this place so it's bitter sweet for me.

But I know good things are waiting around the corner or I guess just down some stairs.

A birthday and an update

Birthday Boy

This little guy turned 2 yesterday. Sammy has energy and he makes me laugh a lot. I love his smile and his little words that he's saying. He brings a lot to our lives and we sure love him. Happy Birthday little Sammy.

These last couple of weeks have been busy with kiddos, teaching yoga, spending time with family & friends. It's been a great start to holiday season which I'm looking forward too.

Another thing that I'm looking forward to. Jas and I are moving up in the world. We are actually moving downstairs in our apartment building into 2 bedrooms. It's a huge step for us and I'm actually pretty happy that I'll just have to move boxes down a few stairs into a new apartment. Even though the place is bigger, it has it's flaws and I get a little sad thinking I'm going to not be in my place anymore. But sleeping next to 4 bikes is getting old. The climbing equipment is now pouring out of the closet and it's just time to get some space. Hopefully we'll be in our new place next week so I can finally put up a Christmas tree.

This past weekend, I've been a little sick and pretty sleepy. When I finally got out of my pj's, I carved a pumpkin with Jake, had a slumber party with my nephew Dylan, brunch with Jason's parents and taught a few yoga classes. Today we did sun salutations to thriller, just to mix it up. But for the rest of the day I'm going to eat these cookies, read and maybe watch ghostbusters.

Last week the hubby and I celebrated 3 years of marriage, 8 years of being together and many years being friends. We both got off work early and celebrated by eating my favorite black bean burrito, running around doing errands and being lazy. Exactly what we wanted to do. I remember the moment I wanted to marry this boy, it was years ago...he walked in the room where I instantly got butterflies, which I still do when I see him. He made me laugh so hard that I thought to myself, I want this forever. Years later he still makes me laugh and takes such great care of me. I really am blessed to have this hubby be my hubby. He's simply the best. Happy Anniversary.

Big Cottonwood-last Autumn

Fall detox which I found in Yoga Journal is all that I've been talking about to my yoga classes. I've been loving it and have been sharing this to my students, my family, friends & now you guys. I was talking to another instructor about how we make resolutions on January 1st, which is smack in the winter and no wonder we go to the gym for the 2 weeks after to lose that 10 pounds and then after awhile we tend to find ourselves inside more and less at the gym. It's normal to do that because our body goes inward in the winter. Which is why we gotta detox our body now and get rid of toxins and start strengthening our immunity. Lets make our goals now before winter comes.

The detox includes:
Simplified diet: start to let go of things that you don't need, be mindful of what you put in your body. We all need to nourish our body with healthful, cleansing foods. This also includes herbs, drinking tea.
Cleansing yoga: go to a yoga class and do it often, come to me if you don't want to pay for a class..I'm happy to teach my friends some detox moves or go here for at home practice
Meditation & Pranayama (breath control): spend a few minutes a day and notice your breath, notice your thoughts and let go of things that you cannot control in you life. Write in a journal, self study what you are going through at this moment. Start to slow down and reducing any stress that you are dealing with.

Part of this detox is not only to strengthen our immunity for the winter months, but to restore our body, to release stress and to clear our mind. In the article it says, "At the junction between the heat of summer and the cold of winter, you have a real opportunity to let go of bad habits and embrace healthier ones." it goes on saying, "Only then can you have space to establish the good habits you need to create the kind of health and vibrancy you want for your life."

The reason why this hit home to me so much is that our lives are so busy all the time, we get tired, we get stressed and it is good to know that eating mindfully, doing twisting yoga positions and watching our breath and thoughts really reduce anxiety and stress in our lives. When our lives have been crazy in the summer it's time to slow down and be mindful. One of my favorite quotes in the article says, "I look at autumn as a transition into a new year, I look at nature: The harvest is over, and it's time to clear out. It's an opportunity to till the soil and plant the seeds for next year's harvest. Once we do this for ourselves, we can recommit to what is working for us and set ourselves up to get more of what nourishes us in our lives."

Hopefully you will all think about this detox or just do something for yourself every single day. Letting go of any crazy things we are going through. Have a happy detox.

My favorite girlie in the world is turning 30 today. Those of you who know me know Marta or at least heard me talk about her a million times. She is the best friend, the girl who can make me laugh, who knows all of my mistakes and my flaws, who encourages me and makes me better. We have memories that go way way way back and this weekend was a favorite of mine. Marta opened her presents on the wooden floor of her new living room in her new home. We have opened presents everywhere from in our bedrooms at our parents houses to packages in the mail. It was fitting that on her 30th we opened presents in her new place..a new age, a new little life (more pictures to come). That day, we got paint and we painted and painted until 1:30 am. We were sweaty, tired and covered with paint but it was the best time I had in a long long time.

In the early morning we moved boxes, furniture, toys and dishes. Her unique handwriting all over the boxes, getting little glimpse of the home becoming their own.

We ate chocolate chocolate dougnuts and Marta made sure we had water just because she is considerate like that. It was a great day to a great birthday girl who I love to pieces. She is the best, she is creative, so funny, full of talent, she is one of a kind and my best friend.

Spicy Peanut Noodles

ingredients

Spicy Peanut Noodles
brought to you by
Vegetarian Times & Whitney

Serves 6 & takes 30 minutes or less

8 oz. linguine
1/3 cup low-fat creamy peanut butter
2 Tbs. low-sodium soy sauce
1 1/2 Tbs. rice wine vinegar (I've used red wine vinegar still tasty)
1 to 2 tsp. chile paste with fresh garlic
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 med size red bell pepper, cut into thin strips
3/4 cup chopped cucumber
3 green onions, sliced diagonally (about 1/4 cup)
2 Tbs. chopped cilantro
4 lime wedges (optional)

Cook linguine according to package instructions, meanwhile combine peanut butter, 1/4 cup water, soy sauce, vinegar, chile paste & sugar in large bowl; whisk until blended. If sauce seems too thick, thin it with a little water; it should have the consistency of cream. Add linguine, bell pepper, cucumber and green onions, and toss well. Sprinkle with cilantro. Serve with lime wedges if desired.

Some of you are lucky to know her and her dance moves, some of you read her hilarious blog and some of us have grown up with her and have memories that go way back to those middle school days where doc martins and Lenny Deyoung were cool.

Climbing brought us back together and I must say Ginnie who has only been rock climbing once showed me up..I think it was her mom strength or her calf muscles. Whatever it was, it was a blast being with her. I can't get enough of this girl.

As I write this...tomatoes are simmering on my stove. Jason is usually the man to make the sauce but the boy is working his buns so someone has got to smash those home grown tomatoes. It smells good and I just hope it goes well with my meatless meatballs.

Yesterday in-between my classes I went to pilates and it hurt, hurt so good. I recommend the reformer and an awesome teacher. I went over to my sisters where we (i watched her) cooked up a few meals. Abby let's me do my wash there, she cooks me dinner and I return the favor by ~~my cute face~~ playing with her boys. Let's just say I love my Tuesdays and I love this weather. Sorry to offend a few snow bunnies, but I would love if the weather never changed. September is a good month and there are a lot of home grown tomatoes that need to be eaten. Hope you're Wednesday is a happy one.

Moccasin's and long showers

Last night I was ~~complaining~~ no venting to Jason about my little rut. As I was going to bed I started thinking about how I don't want to turn 30 or about the bills that we are paying. I thought about how my life is waking up early, working, then starting the process all over again the next day and wondering if any of my efforts made a difference. Let's just say it was all negative and so lame. It's funny what I teach in yoga to my students is exactly what I need to be doing in my own life. The theme of my classes was Santosa which means contentment.

So today during my classes I felt better. I had a student come ask me if he can come to more of my classes because it made his day better, I went to the gym and kicked my own butt, I took a long shower after teaching and used my favorite shampoo which (last night Jason asked if this was the shampoo I used in Europe when we started dating..what a memory), I drank my favorite ice tea and read my book, and I also got these moccasin's in the mail today and have been wearing non-stop. So things are good and things are better. It's when you realize that a long shower and moccasins help you be more content and start enjoying the simpler things in life.

It's official we have grown up. Jason's new job has taken him.. literally. He wakes up at 8 and comes home around 8, last night was 10. You don't realize how really good your life is until something changes it. Our jobs were a bit different from the worlds, we picked our hours to work and then we would go rock climbing, that was our life. We rock climbed about 4 to 5 times a week then go eat fish tacos and now I'm having withdrawals...and it was good while it lasted.

My two weeks off consisted of dreaming of rock climbing with the boy. 5 times is turning into 2 times a week which is nothing to complain about, we just have some adjusting to do right now. I do have to say we are happy and a little more content right now. We don't have a perfect marriage because we aren't perfect people and that is good enough for me. He makes me laugh everyday, he pushes me a lot because he knows I can do it even when I think I can't. I'm grateful for the boy who is working his butt off right now and doing so much for our little family.

The hubby and I went camping this weekend. We camped right by 22 climbing routes and got a fair share of mosquito bites. It was perfect weather, fun climbs & exactly what we needed. My 2 weeks off starts today as well as the hubby's first day as assistant chief. I am proud of the boy and his new job and know that things will look a little brighter from where he's sitting. It's been a bumpy, happy road and I'm hoping things only get better from here on out.
Summer has flown by and these last couple of weeks have been celebrated with family in town, parties, swim parties and a lot of eating. I'm going to get quick workout in and head over to spend time with my sister and her little boys. 2 weeks is going to be nice.

This past weekend my cousin Russell got married.
It was a perfect day and I'm so happy for Russ & Kristen.
With one hour of sleep, I went with my parents to California to celebrate this pretty couple.
The reception was at a ranch and it was amazing, the food was great, the company was even better.
It really was such a great time and I'm happy that my parents let me tag along for the ride.

This week has been so busy, I've been extremely stressed and may have had a few melt downs, but went swimming with this little guy, had a well needed girl time with Abby & Marta, watched them with their cute kiddies, planning a baby shower which is work but it's going to be so cute. Yoga has been super busy, a lot of students, a lot of emails, a lot of downward facing dog. Let's just say I'm ready for the weekend, I'm ready for that sun on my face & I'm ready to sleep in.

Happy Fathers Day. I'm very blessed to have him as my dad. He has taught me so much in my life and continues to show me how to be a better person. I really am lucky to be his daughter and can't wait for many more memories with him.

On to more fathers, I wish all of my brothers, my brothers in law and to Jason's dad for being such great examples. I have loved being around all of them with their kids and have been so blessed to be in their lives.

Today is flag day, an anniversary & my grandma's birthday, i celebrated by waking up thinking of her, teaching some yoga & spent the rest of the day swimming with my nephews, my brother & sister oh & eating some ice cream

At the beginning of the week I sit down, get my yoga books, maybe eat some chick peas and read. I think about what we have done in our class the week before, what is more challenging, maybe a little different & more motivating. It's a never ending process in my life & I love those days where I feel like I'm doing something inspiring, but I do have those days where I just pray that they get something out of..well it's the end of the week & I just completed my 2 morning classes and have 2 more to go before I can sit back & relax. This week has been filled with yoga, rhubarb pie, rock climbing (which I fell into a river while catching Jason & I cried while laying on my back in freezing cold ice water), lunch with Marta, the bachelorette (bently that jerk), sleeping, & running. This weekend is going to be busy..dinner in the canyon, midnight movie, family in town, a wedding shower & maybe some climbing if we aren't close to a river.

I told you summer was right around the corner, today was gorgeous. Went on a little hike with my dad, which is always something that I look forward to in the summer. Look at that blue sky.

Over Memorial weekend, the Rasmussen gang ventured up to Fountain Green. We were thinking of climbing but the weather wasn't good enough so we settled on shooting clay pigeons. It was a good time with the family and seeing my cowboy hubby. This week I've been doing nothing but teaching and sleeping. Something has sortof hit me, keep losing my voice and a little bit of energy, but only 4 more classes tomorrow and I'll have a 2 day break to recharge, regroup.

Angels Landing-Zions

Over this past weekend, the hubby & I went down to Zions (more pictures to come). Mr Mountain man has never been which shocked me a little bit & I was determined to get him down there to enjoy that gorgeous view from Angels Landing. It's my 3rd trip walking up that mountain & I'm never disappointed with that view, those reliable chains that make you feel a little bit better when there are cliffs on both sides & being with my boy.

On mother's day we drove home, thought of how blessed I am to have my mom as a mom. I thought of Jason's mom, my grandma's, my sisters, my cousins, my aunts, my friends, to all those women who are going to be mom's and the example they give to me. It was a great weekend filled with that gorgeous view (more pictures to come), that hubby of mine, & the mom's in my life.

I feel that I haven't expressed enough love to the hubby these last couple of weeks. It's amazing how people get so busy, so wrapped up in their routine that I feel that I have neglected some love towards this boy of mine. We've been eating a lot of pb & j's, breakfast burritos and cereal and he's been more than happy. He's been working a lot and never complains about that. He comes to my yoga class and sits right in the front, He has been so patient with me when I have lost patience with myself & still makes me laugh every single day. I'm not the first to admit that marriage can be hard, but every single morning I'm grateful for my hubby. I'm grateful that he leaves the hot towel on the radiator for me and leaves that last sip of dr pepper for me.

My cute little sister in law Dorothy called and asked about a quick veggie meal and these veggie tacos popped into my mind.

Saute your favorite veggies with olive oil & garlic...

the veggies in this dish contain yellow squash, tomatoes, zucchini, red peppers, green & a white onion.

Heat up some black beans and corn tortillas. Cover it with some fresh tomatoes, cilantro, jack cheese, avocados & juice from a fresh lime.

Easy, quick, healthy & good.

Easter with a Birthday party

Yesterday we did a little Easter celebration mix with a birthday party. We had a little Easter egg hunt that lasted about 2 minutes, we ate a lot of food and played with those cute nephews of mine..it was a great Saturday afternoon.

Last week as you know was my mom's birthday and also my dad's. For those of you who don't know my dad he's the greatest. Quiet, can be intimidating, but he's a real softy. I have never known someone who works hard like him, he is able to fix up anything, he is dedicated to his family and has been a great example to me. He's a great dad who I love. Happy Birthday Dad!

On to more news..this coming Weds I'll be done teaching for 2 weeks to enjoy maybe that spring weather, maybe some rock climbing, hiking, some sun. I'm hoping the weather will clear up a bit so I can get outside for a little awhile. Excited for those 2 weeks to come.

This past weekend I went to Vegas with these lovely ladies. It's amazing how we don't see each other on a regular basis but the minute we get together it's like a day never went by. It was honestly one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. Here's a few things what to do and not to do in Vegas.

To Do:
-Go to Vegas with friends, old friends preferable so they will still love you after
-wake up early to run so you wont feel guilty eating anything you want & getting a good seat at the pool
-Eat anything that you want
-Go to Serendipity and order everything on the menu
-Talk with the girls, laugh with the girls, have fun with the girls
-Go dancing and really dance your socks off
-shop at H&M
-take lots of pictures (more to come)
-Do wear sunscreen

Not To Do:
-Don't push the beds together, even though a good idea not fun for the person sleeping in the crack (sorry Ginnie & Jackie)
-Dance with creepy old men

I love these girls..they have been in my life for oh so long. It was the best being with them again. Can't wait for next year..visit my ladies here, and here, oh over there and this one right here.

Birthday Cheer

Before I leave for the weekend, I feel it wouldn't be right if I left without spreading some birthday cheer to this little lady. On Sunday it will be my mom's birthday. Here's a lady who knows a little thing or two about making her yard look amazing and her home feeling welcoming. I grew up with her singing me to sleep, taking me to work, checking me out of school to go swimming or shopping, being understanding and caring. She has taught me a lot about reaching my goals and staying positive. I hope someday when I'm a mother that I'll teach my children the importance of being yourself and being able to do whatever you put your mind too like she has with me and the rest of my siblings. She is one of a kind and I love her a lot. Happy Birthday Mom! Will bring you some lunch on Tuesday.

Morning Blues

Right now I am waiting for my last two classes to start so I can drive in the rain to my sisters house. I have been dying to see those little boys. This morning was hard to wake up, I was super comfy and the hubby had his arm around me. It was hard. After a warm shower and a cold drive to work, I thought of my students today, what positions should I teach, trying to wake up. This morning in my classes I looked around and saw a lot of students who really love to practice yoga, giving it their all, few that were tired who I could relate to and one that was doing a position that I had no idea what was going on. I smiled to myself went on my way teaching and relaxing and more relaxing..did I mention that it was hard waking up this morning. Buying time in the University computer lab I do realize that Christian rock has a time and a place and it is not in the computer lab with 20 other students looking at each other confused and uncomfortable but I am off to teach two more classes then spending the afternoon at my sisters home. Did I mention that I am going away this weekend? Somewhere warm and with some friends that I have been dying to see. More on that later.

It's been pretty snowy and I'm counting down the days until it's summer. This past week was filled with yoga, running and snow. Went to lunch with my sister, babysat my little nephew, scraped off some snow from my car, chats with Kerry, sending get well packages, and making some pasta. Yesterday after I ate a huge caprese sandwich from Cucina, Jason and I went rock climbing. We've been slacking due to working to much, coming home tired and late. We were happy to get back to our regular routine until Mr Jason hurt his back again. A few weeks ago the man hurt his back and took a few days to recover. I've never seen Jason in so much pain before. He's the kind of guy that never complains and pushes himself no matter what. A little worried we soaked it up in a hot tub while it snowed lightly. Even though I'm ready for summer I'll miss those snowy nights. I'm home today staying warm, packed a lunch for the hurt boy, looking forward to a birthday party tonight, thinking about a birthday tomorrow and a girls trip coming up. Hoping for some sun shine to come my way.

Birthday Girl

Lets make a toast to this little lady! Today is my sister's birthday and I sure love this girl. Abby has been one of my greatest blessings in life and continues to be my support team every single day. Abby is the greatest mother to 2 of my most favorite boys, she is one talented little mama with that sewing machine of hers and have helped decorated my apartment with table toppers and gorgeous quilts. Not only is she gorgeous and 5 feet tall. She works hard at everything that she does, she's giving, feisty, funny, loving and will help anyone at any time. I love her a lot and she means so much to me. So cheers to the Birthday girl who is having a great time flying to Florida right about now. Love you Ms Abigail.

A couple of my students brought me these eggs from their chickens. They were fresh, real organic and real pretty. Spring seems to be right around the corner with that morning sky. Last night we ate at Jason's parents where Curtis and the gang cooked us a fine meal with cooked salmon glazed with ginger and citrus goodness. Surrounded by amazing students today and I finally stayed at the gym for a bit longer than usually..things seem to be looking up.

On Thursday night I sat on the couch and I didn't really leave, except for a couple of times to the gym with the new playlist..thank you gals, a run to the grocery store, a pedicure with abby with some hot chocolate, but other than than Jas and I landed ourselves on the couch and watched movies. It was a good weekend. Did I mention that last week I came home and found the hubby with a shaved head? Still Mr handsome, but it was a little depressing how young he looked when I myself just turned a little bit older. This week my teaching 17 classes a week will reduce to 13, a little bittersweet for me but I am looking forward to sleeping in a extra hour and maybe staying at the gym for a few minutes longer. I've been trying to do more me time and finding more hobbies, doing more crafts, finding new recipes...I have a feeling it's going to be a great week.

Speaking of great this coming Tuesday we get to celebrate someone who has been in my life a long time. My friend, my sister, my 8th grade enemy turned best friend Emily. She and I have been friends for a long time. 9th grade was a good year for us, we were forced to sit by each other on the bus and became best friends after that ride. We've lived in Italy together, gotten lost together, cried together, ran a few miles together. She was my family before I even married her brother and I sure love her. Happy Birthday Ems!

No more excuses, I've been teaching a lot, went to the rock climbing gym yesterday and did more watching than doing, I've been running at the gym for a couple of days, but every time I'm at the gym..I start thinking of all the things that I need to do or would rather do. Exercise is a huge part of my life, but sometimes I find excuses like I'm tired or I need to clean or need to watch the Bachelor. Turning 29 wasn't so bad since I was surrounded by so many good souls. I felt truly blessed getting emails, phone calls, texts, letters, packages, flowers. I have gained a few pounds for eating a lot of good food and a lot of good dessert. Thanking those who thought of me, thanking my parents for the veggie party to start off the week right which it did, thanking Abby for my tuna sandwich & for Jake insisting to give me his transformers book as a gift, thanking my wonderful in-laws for taking me to Thai food and letting us sit in their hot tub, thanking all my nieces & nephews for adorable messages, thanking Jo for the fabulous lunch who spoils me rotten, thanking my hubby for making dinner to perfection, thanking Curtis & Dotty for ending this special night with me and the hubby, you guys are the best, thanking Baskin Robbins for creating that ice cream cake that I love oh so much, thanking thoughtful messages & packages (thank you Marta), I felt loved so thank you thank you thank you..it's good to be 29. i have 30 more minutes left and tomorrow i'll no longer be 28. 29 seems a little old, 30 seems older. i've decided this coming year that i need to embrace more, do more, even if i'm 29 or 30, or whatever age i am, age really doesn't matter, it's just how we feel am i right? this last year has had a few ups and a few downs, i feel that i've learned more and i only hope that the things that i have gone through have shaped me a bit, have helped me see things better and helped me become only better. i feel these last couple of months all that i've been thinking is how i'll be 29 soon and that i haven't really embraced being my good old 28 year old self. before i fall asleep here's a few or i guess i should say 28 things that i have loved, love, will continue to love..

how this past summer i took up rock climbing..my new pink finger nail polish (thanks krista)..my mornings where i get to sleep in past 6 am..making new veggie meals..my green kitchen table..fresh tomatoes..my new stackable measuring cups (thanks to mr hubby)..phone calls from marta..chats with jake and hearing sam laugh..the smell of new books..yoga..my family..the new kanye west album (i do and i love him)..flipflops..blue plate diner and that black bean burrito..david bowie..pictures (old, new)..Abby's quilts..anthro bowls..clothes right out of the dryer..fish tacos..mom's garden..baby d. axel..hummus harvest on savory please..how good my nephews are at sports..my dad..being content. being happy.
i have a feeling this next year will be a good one, today as my students helped me with my 29 sun salutations i read this quote,

This past weekend a group of us went down to St George to get our rock climbing on. It was perfect weather, a lot of fun & I babysat my dream puppy for awhile. I was in heaven. It's hard to come back to snow storms, but the sun is shining now & I'm excited for the weeks to come.

I guess when your work as a chili cook off, cowboy comes into mind which is why Jason decided to get his old cowboy gear out and try to get first prize. Sadly he didn't get the first prize I guess people expect meat when they eat chili which ours didn't have. Oh well maybe next year.

These last few weeks has been busy, busy teaching, busy a lot of things. I feel at this moment I can't do any more sun salutations. My body is talking to me about a break and my weekends consists of catching up on some sleep which I will be doing in the next couple of days along with some rock climbing and hopefully a little sun on my face. These last few weeks have been filled with friends, family, traditions, presents, fur hats, rock climbing, sleeping in, being sick, and setting some goals. I want this year to be great. I'm starting a full schedule next week, I'm turning 29 next month and that summer sun is going to warm my face real soon. I can't wait to start fresh and really put my goals out there by cooking more, being a better teacher, be a better person, smile more, be positive about myself on a regular basis, bake more cookies for my friends, make more friends and most important of all I want to be more present in my life. Present in everything that I do. I'm hoping you all had a great holiday because mine was pretty good. I asked Jason what his goals were for 2011 he replied, "To have a good all the time." So here's to a good new year.

This has been a bitter sweet day for me. This past week I've been helping my friend Robin move, we've been packing boxes, running errands, doing laundry, going to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I've been trying to get every moment with this girl since I wont see her everyday like I have for the past year. Even though we've only been friends for a couple of years, I feel like I have known her forever. She has grown to be one of my best friends and has been such a rock in my life. I am so happy that she spent so many hours talking to me, helping me, being here for me, laughing with me. She is such an amazing friend who I am gonna miss so much but am looking forward to being in her life here on out..Jas & I sure love this girl.

Our baby tree is up, I'm getting down to the bottom of my check list and am excited for this holiday. First of all I am grateful for my sister in-law Melanie who had her sweet baby boy on November 1. We all got introduced to my newest nephew Dylan Axel who's pretty adorable and am looking forward to getting to know the little man

I am grateful that Dylan's dad is feeling better

I am thankful for the husband who is so patient with me when I'm not my normal happy self

I am grateful that the husband makes me laugh, makes me breakfast burritos and is pretty cute

I appreciate all of my friends whom some are related to me and some feel related to me

I am grateful to be able to sleep in on this snowy morning and have the whole day not to do anything

I am happy to be surrounded by great people on a regular basis and am excited to see our out of towner families

The Harvest Boutique was so much. Thanks for all of those who came and supported us, also a big thanks to Kathy for letting us invade her gorgeous home. The weather was a little wet, but it didn't stop us from running the show. I must say I was surrounded by talented people all day and am so happy to have been a part of something that we've started oh so many years ago. Thanks again for all the support.

This little boy turned 3 yesterday. Many of you know that I adore this little guy. He has brought a lot of love to our family and I have loved watching his personality grow. Sala Verde

Thank you for the warm wishes. Our anniversary was pretty great. After teaching 6 classes, Jason prepared vegetarian salsa verde soup that he whipped up with all fresh ingredients ..it was delicious and among our top meals. Jason has been the greatest and is so patient with me as I have been busy working and getting ready for our boutique. Jas even spent many days this month teaching me how to silk screen and stayed up pretty late to do the finishing touches which you all will see at the boutique. I have been so blessed with this boy of mine. Happy Weekend

Anniversary

Jason and I have been together for about 7 years. Today is our 2 year anniversary and I must say, I have loved every little minute of it. I have married a guy who makes me laugh every single day, who is thoughtful, caring and pretty amazing at everything he does. I have loved sharing my life with someone who knows everything about me...flaws and all and still loves me. I still get butterflies in my stomach and I still get excited when he walks in the door. I must say I'm a pretty happy wife. I've found the right one for me.

Fall Break

This past week I've been sick, pretty pretty sick. I am known to my neighbors as the girl who can't stop blowing her nose. My fall break consisted of sleeping, stitching, eating and more sleeping. This weekend I did however get my achy body, raccoon eyes up and ready for a little r&r with the Jasman. He whisked me away to Snowbird once again to celebrate our upcoming anniversary. We decided that we needed to get away for the weekend and enjoy that blue sky. We ate a little too much, slept a lot but had a good time and ended the day with some rock climbing and fish tacos. Tomorrow starts another busy week, but my energy is coming back and I'm excited for our boutique this coming saturday which I'm sure you're all planning to attend. It's going to be so much fun and I know we have all worked our little buns off to knock your guys socks off. Hope to see you there.

September 25th is one of my most favorite days. We get to celebrate someone who has been by my side for my whole life and will always have that permanent spot. My cousin Marta turns 29 today and I will follow her in a few months which seems suitable for us. I have looked up to her for the past 29 years and am always striving to be a little more like her.

Growing up with Marta was such a blessing, we spent so many years together laughing, becoming more alike, never getting in fights or getting sick of each other. I have loved seeing her catch her first fish, going horseback riding, talking about boys dealing with mean girls, I have loved seeing her fall in love, being a wife, becoming a graphic designer, letting the world see how creative she always has been, I have loved watching her become a mother, and seeing how she deals with trials with gratitude and love. I have loved being by her side and watching her become the great person that she is today. It has been one of my greatest blessings to have this friendship in my life. She doesn't realize all the greatness that she holds and I love her to tiny pieces.

Happy Birthday Mart, wish I could check you out of school to go shopping, have lunch and make a cake with swedish fish on top. You're the best!

this weather is so gorgeous right now, this weekend we took advantage of the fall sunny day and went camping up in logan canyon with the other rasmussen's, we froze while eating some veggie sausage and got warmed up rock climbing. the rest of the afternoon we cheered jason's sister Alyssa who ran the logan marathon. we are so proud of her as she ran strong to the end. she did such a great job. we saw some old friends and took a detour around those gorgeous mountains. it was a great weekend.

Last night we had a baby shower for my cute sister in law Melanie. She is carrying my 7th nephew and I'm excited to see the little guy. We celebrated with both Bagley's & DeSpain's who spoiled this new little one in my mom's backyard which was gorgeous as always. It was fun to see my family, chat with my cute cousin's and see Ty & Melanie excited for the new babe. Guest were happy as they left with little cupcakes that we borrowed from our cousin Kelly..(cute idea for little favors or gift ideas.) All in all it was a great night and I'm thrilled for the soon be parents. We sure love them.

This morning I woke up with a sore throat and not very motivative to say the least, but I will manage to scrub that kitchen floor and maybe take a shower before dinner. Maybe my weak body needs a break from this week of teaching and rock climbing. I must say I'm quite proud of myself for accomplishing something that I had no guts or desire to do quite yet which was I finally led a climb and accomplished a couple of over hangs that have made my body feel like jelly. I am very proud of the boy who is patient with me, encouraging and who tempted me with a oreo shake if I accomplished that fearful task. It was delicious.

Over the weekend our friend Alissa got married. Her wedding was not only gorgeous, but it was also so much fun. There were little details of Alissa everywhere, simple, elegant teacups, mismatched vases with wildflowers, old typewriter to check the guest in, old wedding pictures, gorgeous views, and the best was seeing our friends.

It was a perfect day for Alissa who was beaming, looked amazing, looked happy and relaxed. We love her a lot and are so happy for her and Tanner.

Hello July Happy 4th Welcome summer. Days are going fast and things are going good. Had a awesome 4th of July weekend with family, with friends and with rock climbing. We ate a lot, slept a lot and swam a whole lot. We also spent a lot of time with these Nashville folks, the other Rasmussen's, played with these little guys, and saw fireworks with this crowd. It was a good weekend and good to take a break from my busy schedule and to start feeling normal again. Thanks to all who celebrated with us.
