My University classes started today and in honor of the foundation of all foundation poses I give you Downward Facing Dog. This position you will see in every yoga class. It's the foundation for oh sooo many positions. One that has taken me a few times to feel completely at home in and now I love this pose every time I'm in it. It works many muscles..your triceps, biceps, strengthens your shoulders, back, hamstrings, calves, etc. I could go on about Downward Facing Dog. It's an amazing pose that we should all be acquainted..go ahead and try it.

Sorry. You'll never get me in that pose. Watching you gives me a backache!
Jake and I will do downward dog in your honor tomorrow!
Hi Whit, question for ya..I've never done yoga for real, but am doing P90x right now and one of the days is a yoga workout, it's dang hard, but I love it. They do downward dog with straight legs, and heels down. It burns! haha Is it better to do it like you have pictured? I think that looks much more comfortable. :)
Merilee..Thanks for the question and ps I can't get on your blog..it has me block. Anyways I have always learned to have your knees soft and heels lifted. I want to strengthen my back, shoulders, arms with a long spine. Hopefully you get a good hamstring stretch too, but just try next time with soft knees. I hear p90x is hard..keep it up!!
Thanks! I tried it like you said and like that much better, and it's still a great stretch too. I sent you an invite to my blog :)
