my birthday girl

A year ago and actually at this very moment that I'm typing this..my water broke. 

I was in my kitchen luckily just finishing some banana bread. 

I remember feeling really calm and so excited that the next time I walk into my apartment..I'll be with my baby girl. 

That night we did squats and walked around the hospital trying to speed up the process. 

I was getting anxious and nervous of not knowing what would happen. 

After a few long painful..happy hours. This little girl came into my life and swept me off my feet...and every single day she brings so much love and happiness that I didn't even know existed. 

June 1st will forever be a favorite day for me..because I became a mom for the very first time, it's the day that I met my baby girl face to face, and it's the day that my favorite little person came in my life and has changed me for the better.

I just can't believe she is 1 already. Happy Birthday to my little bird, my baby, my wrenylou, wrenybaby, lilla, sweetie pea, to my Wren.

I normally wouldn't post a picture like this...I'm not feeling cute these days but this little babe is sure kicking me like crazy and I love it. I would love it more if she were in my arms holding her, but we are just waiting and nesting. Jason took this of me last week and tomorrow I'll be 37 weeks..It's crazy how the time has flown by but at times I've felt like I've been pregnant forever. Yesterday I went to an appointment to check on this little babe and am already dilated further than we had ever expected being shy of 37 weeks...good sign, but this little bird isn't ready quite yet. I could go any time or still be looking like this but a little bigger for the next couple of weeks. 
So to keep my mind off of the tighten and the discomfort, this little babe got spoiled again. My aunt Kathy and family threw me a shower and it was perfect. Perfect company, perfect food, perfect weather. I forgot my camera but luckily my mom didn't and posted some pictures here. It was a great night.
Today I'm going to keep myself busy by cleaning, eating, running around doing errands and hopefully see some family that's in town.

Birds and an update

This little bird mobile hangs in the corner of our girl's room. It's perfect and is exactly the pop that I wanted. Her room seems to still be a mod podge of furniture, new and old items, etc. But it's coming along. We got a car seat (thank you for all of your suggestions) and I've been washing her clothes and blankets. She's moving a lot and I've been more uncomfortable as the days go by and getting bigger. A month from today is her due date and on Thursday I'll be 36 weeks pregnant..it's still so weird to think I'll be holding a little babe so soon. Jas and I can't hardly wait.

Sammy's...we treated the other Rasmussen's to some cheeseburgers, fries & shakes (these people put a whole piece of pie or cupcake in their shake)

Jason & the crib

Last week the hubby put together our crib which I completely adore. We live in a two bedroom apartment and things are tight, the space, the budget, the space. This little girl is now going to experience sleeping next 4 bikes, but I still want this room to be adorable for our little bird. 


The crib is perfect (thank you mom & dad) and I found aden & anais crib sheet which I want more with different patterns so adorable and am in works of figuring out what quilt to hang on the wall to give the room a little more love...any suggestions? 


Things are getting more real and more exciting and I can't wait to meet this little girl face to face. We just have to find the perfect car seat which I'm still deciding...again any suggestions?

Baby Shower

Last weekend my sister and my cousin Marta hosted the cutest baby shower I have ever seen. Right when I walked into the house my eyes were instantly filled with tears and was overwhelmed by how much work and thought these two girlies put into it. A few touches that did the job well are:


Abby's home...this girl knows how to decorate.
Marta's homemade banners that were around the house were the perfect touch, along with the colorful lanterns...the pink one really stood out.
Flowers lining the tables in mason jars made the house feel so springy and bright.
The food...yogurt parfaits, scrabbled eggs, creme brulee french toast was amazing, along with the mini doughnuts and colorful drink selection.
The favor...these two girlies know me well and know my love for a cold dr pepper and oreos, perfect fit.
Being surrounded by family and close friends..I never felt so much love and completely appreciate all that came, who gave me the best advice and encouragement. 


Thank you so much Abby and Marta for putting this whole party together. You guys are the best and can't thank you enough.

The Rasmussen's are happy to report that we'll be having a baby girl! Mom, Dad and baby are perfectly happy and are beyond blessed that the little one is safe after a rough and scary month. We celebrated by eating my black bean burrito, a dr pepper, martha stewart magazine and I bought the little one her own pair of yoga pants. Things are looking pretty bright around here.
